Ardurra provided full design phase structural engineering services to design the single-story, 30,000 SF Advanced Manufacturing Training Center building for Horry County Technical College, Georgetown Campus, Georgetown, SC.
Subsurface geotechnical engineering determined the potential of liquefaction during a seismic event creating the need for a geo-composite seismic drain grid system giving the site a class D.
The facility was designed for a wind velocity of 143 MPH per ASCE/SEI 7-10 for Occupancy Category II. Seismic design utilized short-period and 1-second period seismic design spectral acceleration values of SDS = 61.0%g and SD1 = 32.0%g, respectively, for a seismic design category D.
Full bid, construction and post-construction phase services were also provided for this project.
