Ardurra supported Duke Energy's progress at the Brunswick Nuclear Plant during the Unit 2, 2013 high-pressure turbine outage on the HP shell rotator project. The rotator was designed to rotate the 80-ton HP turbine upper shell safely and quickly by using a new device so the bridge cranes could focus on the outage. Involved from the beginning, Ardurra prepared the design for the floor matting and used finite element analysis to analyze the existing turbine deck and ensure adequacy. Laron, Inc. prepared the design for the rotator components and Ardurra accompanied Duke personnel to Laron offices throughout the project for design review meetings and for the witness of the ASME load testing of the system. Ardurra personnel were on site during the outage to support the HP shell rotation.
