The new Aquatics Center at John Anson Ford Park represents a $31 million investment in recreation, wellness, and community connection, featuring a state-of-the-art facility spanning approximately 126,000 square feet. The center includes an Olympic-size 50-meter competition pool with nine lanes, an activity pool complete with a waterslide and interactive water features, a therapeutic pool for wellness programs, and an outdoor amphitheater with terraced lawn seating for community events.

This project represents the return of a cherished community resource. The original aquatic center was closed in 2017 due to maintenance and safety concerns, leaving a gap in recreational opportunities for Bell Gardens residents. Now, families once again have a place to gather, learn vital water safety skills, and build lasting connections.

The aquatics building features modern amenities, including a fully equipped fitness center, family-friendly changing rooms, administrative offices, and dedicated lifeguard facilities. Outdoor improvements feature new shade structures, bleacher seating for competitions, a performance stage, enhanced landscaping, and upgraded lighting and security systems.

Funding for the project came through a collaborative effort involving $6 million from California State Parks, $2 million from the state budget, $4 million from Los Angeles County, $1.5 million in HUD funding, and $14.6 million from the City of Bell Gardens general fund, with additional grants completing the budget.

Our team is proud to have provided construction management and inspection services that helped bring this vision to life. Working alongside the City of Bell Gardens, RJM Design Group (landscape architect), SVA Architects, and Bernards (construction), we helped restore a vital community asset. For generations to come, the center will serve as a gathering place where residents and visitors can participate in aquatic sports, fitness activities, therapeutic programs, and community events that strengthen the fabric of Bell Gardens.
