Oak Ridge, Tennessee

The City of Oak Ridge selected Ardurra (CCI) to design comprehensive pedestrian improvements at two critical intersections: Oak Ridge Turnpike at Tulane Avenue and Oak Ridge Turnpike at East Division Road / Tennyson Road. The design scope for both intersections encompassed new sidewalk construction, new curb ramps, upgrades to existing curb ramps, new or upgraded pedestrian signalization, radar vehicle detection systems, and additional miscellaneous signal improvements.

Ardurra (CCI)'s services included coordination with the TDOT Local Programs Development Office, detailed field surveying of both project intersections, preliminary and final design development, environmental coordination and documentation, acquisition of required permits and certifications, and preparation of special construction provisions and contract documents. Our team also provided engineers' estimates of probable construction costs, bid phase coordination services, and Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) throughout the project duration.

This critical infrastructure improvement project was funded through the Transportation Alternatives Program Grant. It required extensive coordination with the TDOT Local Programs Development Office to ensure compliance with all state and federal requirements.

"This project required replacement of sidewalks and handicap facilities at two of Oak Ridge's busiest intersections, and also new traffic signals and controllers. Express my appreciation to Cannon & Cannon for past projects that have been well done, and to say that this office would welcome Cannon & Cannon on future projects." Roger Flynn, City Engineer
