The project includes the restoration and enhancement of historically drained palustrine wetlands, creation of low-saline wetlands and freshwater marsh habitat, along with enhancement of supporting upland habitats by removal of the exotic Brazilian pepper and other non-native species. In addition, the project provides water quality enhancement of stormwater that flows into the property from offsite basins.
The project is funded and implemented by the Southwest Florida Water Management District’s Surface Water Improvement and Management (SWIM) Program.
