From boundary surveys to airfield pavement repairs and parking garages, we have been responsive to a wide variety of needs at the Boise Airport since 2010. Our work there involves a broad range of projects and experience in a complicated operating environment.
The Idaho Transporation Department (ITD) Hangar and Taxilane S project included survey, airside and landside design and construction, architectural, utilities, and various other elements. To accommodate continued growth in passenger traffic, it was necessary to relocate the ITD Division of Aeronautics to the southeast side of the airport. This required building a new hangar and office building, extension of all utilities, the development of a new access, and extension of Taxilane S for airfield access. Our team worked with airport staff and ITD to plan and design the facility and the taxilane. The building provides a modern, efficient home for the tenant while design of the taxilane considered future aviation development plans in the area, including additional hangars.
Concourse B is Boise’s primary concourse and serves multiple airlines and a variety of aircraft, ranging in size up to Boeing 737-900s. The parking spots at B Concourse gates are constructed of concrete pavement, but the pavement between the adjacent taxilane and the parking spots was asphalt. We were tasked with a project to correct the severe rutting and other pavement fatigue problems in these locations by replacing it with concrete. Phasing for this project required significant thought and effort to minimize impacts to airport operations. The project was completed in four phases because only one gate could be closed at a time. We worked closely with airport staff to develop a phasing plan that allowed the contractor to work efficiently while the airlines maintained their schedules.
