Cultural Resource Management GIS Support

Ardurra's GIS team delivers comprehensive geospatial support for Cultural Resource Management (CRM) projects throughout the South and Southeast regions. Working in close partnership with CRM coordinators and field teams, the group develops tailored mapping solutions that strengthen archaeological monitoring, historic resource documentation, and regulatory compliance.

Using ArcGIS Field Maps, the team designs mobile-ready field maps that incorporate Areas of Potential Effect (APE), surface find points, photo points, and custom polygons to accurately document cultural features in the field. For reporting needs, the team produces high-quality cartographic deliverables that overlay APEs on modern aerials, topographic maps, historic surveys, and soil layers — visualizing cultural resources, buffer zones, and survey results using state master site file data.

Beyond mapping, the GIS team supports and maintains internal tools such as the Cultural Resource Inventory System (CRIS) screening tool, which streamlines site evaluations by integrating cemetery data, parcel layers, and aerial imagery. The tool has been successfully transitioned from Web AppBuilder to Experience Builder to ensure continued long-term functionality.

The team is also known for its rapid response to new CRM project requests, from archaeological monitoring at state parks and solar energy centers to residential developments. collaborating with CRM staff to define scopes, plot shovel test pits (STPs), and deliver spatial data for both field and reporting use.
