Peace River Phase 3B

Sarasota County, FL

Five miles of 48-inch water transmission main

Ardurra delivered engineering services for the Peace River Manasota Regional Water Supply Authority's Phase 3B project, including route evaluations, preliminary engineering, design, permitting, and construction management for five miles of 48-inch and one mile of 36-inch potable water transmission main. The project featured steel casings under water crossings, aerial crossing infrastructure, and a meter station with SCADA integration.

Preliminary engineering involved extensive collaboration with the Authority and Sarasota County to evaluate demands, delivery pressures, and hydraulic modeling of proposed pipelines integrated with county water systems and future phases. Strategic route evaluations addressed navigation around the County's Dona Bay project while enabling the proper connection of Phase 3C infrastructure and the proposed 30-inch water main to Pump Station No. 5.

Key Project Features:

  • Designed five miles of 48-inch continuous water transmission main plus one mile of 36-inch WTM with steel casings and aerial crossingEngineered meter station with SCADA integration

  • supporting regional water distribution monitoring and control

  • Conducted comprehensive hydraulic modeling of proposed pipeline, county water system, and future Phases 3C and 3D infrastructure

  • Developed conceptual booster pump station site plans with available land evaluation and future construction recommendations

  • Managed complex route evaluations, navigating Dona Bay project constraints while enabling Phase 3C connectivity

  • Implemented contractor prequalification process, defining minimum experience requirements for main contractors and directional drill specialists

  • Completed project under budget through effective contingency management and favorable construction conditions

The project achieved on-schedule, under-budget completion due to effective collaboration among the owner, contractor, and engineer, coupled with favorable weather and well-written bidding documents. Strategic preliminary design for a ground storage tank and booster pump station provides a foundation for future system expansion, supporting continued regional growth.
