PD&E study for two-mile expressway connection to Orlando Sanford Airport
Ardurra conducts the Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study for an approximately two-mile proposed expressway connection from SR 417 northeastward to Orlando Sanford International Airport at or near Red Cleveland Boulevard. The study builds upon the conclusions and recommendations of the previous SR 417 (Seminole Expressway) to Orlando Sanford International Airport Connector CF&M Study, advancing critical regional transportation connectivity.
The controlled-access highway design enhances direct access to the airport while supporting mobility for the area's growing population and expanding economy. The study evaluates alternative alignments, environmental impacts, and engineering requirements for both minor and major bridge designs to support regional connectivity objectives.
Key Study Components:
-
Analyzing the two-mile expressway connection from SR 417 to the Orlando Sanford International Airport entrance in the vicinity of Red Cleveland Boulevard
-
Building upon previous CF&M Study conclusions and recommendations, advancing regional transportation connectivity planning
-
Designing a controlled access highway with minor and major bridge infrastructure supporting high-speed regional traffic movements
-
Conducting subarea and corridor planning, evaluating alignment alternatives, and considering environmental impact considerations
-
Enhancing direct airport access, improving connectivity for passengers, cargo operations, and economic development activities
-
Supporting regional mobility objectives addressing the growing population and economic expansion throughout Seminole County
-
Promoting comprehensive regional connectivity, integrating the expressway system with airport operations and the surrounding transportation network
The PD&E Study provides Seminole County with strategic transportation planning supporting Orlando Sanford International Airport accessibility and regional economic development. Enhanced expressway connectivity supports continued population growth while establishing efficient transportation links between major regional facilities and the broader Central Florida transportation network.
