Arbennie Pritchett Water Reclamation Facility
Okaloosa, FL
Okaloosa County Water and Sewer Department selected Ardurra as Program Manager for the $65 million Arbennie Pritchett Water Reclamation Facility (WRF), delivering a comprehensive 10 mgd treatment system through progressive design-build methodology. This approach provided the county with optimal risk allocation, competitive design innovation, streamlined performance accountability, and significant long-term cost savings.
Ardurra managed the complete program including the new WRF, 25 mgd re-pumping station, 200-acre rapid infiltration basin disposal system, over 10 miles of 8-inch to 36-inch diameter piping, and decommissioning of the existing Garniers WWTP. The team provided conceptual design, permitting coordination, design-build management, and full construction administration services.
The facility features expandable design from 10 mgd to 15 mgd capacity, incorporating advanced headworks with perforated plate screens, vortex grit removal, and biofilter odor control systems. Treatment processes include two 5 mgd, 4-stage Bardenpho oxidation ditches, 125-foot diameter secondary clarifiers, and UV disinfection systems.
The sophisticated effluent management system delivers treated water to 18 rapid infiltration basins or public access reuse systems through gravity flow and pumping infrastructure. Solids handling includes rotary drum thickening, aerobic digestion, and centrifuge dewatering with 40-ton truck loading capability.
In 2019, the facility received the Design Build Institute of America Florida Region Honor Award in the Water/Wastewater category.
