Modern GIS-based inventory for 33 Wyoming airports statewide

Ardurra delivered airport inventory services for the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) Aeronautics Division, successfully analyzing 33 National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS) airports within the Wyoming State Aviation System. The systematic evaluation assessed the airfield's compliance with current FAA standards, including changes to Advisory Circulars, corrections to non-standard items, and the impact of recent capital construction.

The innovative approach used smartphone applications to enable efficient data collection during site visits, enabling real-time documentation and the upload of photographs to a cloud-based Geographic Information System (GIS) database. This modern methodology streamlined inventory processes while ensuring comprehensive data capture across Wyoming's diverse aviation infrastructure.

Key Project Highlights:

  • Conducted an inventory of 33 NPIAS airports across the Wyoming State Aviation System for FAA compliance assessment

  • Analyzed airfield compliance with current FAA standards, addressing Advisory Circular changes and non-standard item corrections
