Haddon Avenue Improvements
Camden, NJ
Rebuilding a Critical Corridor
Ardurra provided construction management and inspection services for 1.13 miles of improvements along County Route 561 (Haddon Avenue) in Camden, NJ. The corridor connects Cooper University Hospital and Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, passes through an active commercial district, and required careful traffic management and continuous stakeholder communication throughout construction.
Key Highlights:
-
Roadway reconstruction scope included combined sewer pipe, inlets, manholes, and service connections; cured-in-place pipe lining; water main installation; and ITS conduit for future use
-
New traffic signal systems, pedestrian signals, ADA curb ramps, brick paver sidewalks, monolithic curb and gutter, and driveway improvements upgraded the pedestrian and vehicular environment along the full corridor
-
Bioretention systems, tree removals and new plantings, traffic striping and markings, raised pavement markers, and regulatory signage completed the streetscape and stormwater improvements
-
Three distinct detour sections with block-by-block closure limits minimized disruption to businesses, hospital traffic, and daily commuters throughout phased construction
-
Ardurra provided direct community outreach to residents, businesses, and hospital stakeholders, maintaining transparent communication on schedule, access, and impacts throughout the project
The completed improvements deliver long-term infrastructure benefits to one of Camden's most traveled corridors, with Ardurra's community relations program ensuring construction impacts were clearly communicated and effectively managed.
