PD&E to Widen Turnpike Mainline MP 193 to MPO 238.5 Osceola County

Ardurra's GIS team delivered comprehensive geospatial analysis for Florida's Turnpike Enterprise's 45-mile expansion project (mile posts 193-238.5) in Osceola County, supporting archaeological and architectural history surveys during the PD&E phase. The project required precise field navigation across multiple survey zones while integrating complex historical and environmental datasets.

Key Deliverables:

• Developed interactive ArcGIS Field Maps integrating survey boundaries, shovel test pit (STP) layouts, parcel data, mile post references, and previously recorded cultural resources for efficient field documentation

• Created detailed report maps combining aerial imagery, elevation data, historical basemaps, soil classifications, and Florida Master Site File (FMSF) records

• Executed probability zone modeling to optimize STP placement, applying targeted sampling strategies with increased density in high-potential archaeological areas

• Produced specialized mapping for architectural history investigations, documenting historic bridges, structures, roads, and canals throughout the study corridor

The geospatial framework streamlined field operations for the Cultural Resource Management Group, enabling archaeologists to efficiently navigate the extensive corridor while ensuring comprehensive documentation of cultural resources. This data-driven approach supported FTE's compliance requirements and protected historically significant sites along this critical transportation expansion, benefiting both project delivery and community heritage preservation.
