Phifer Airfield Runway Reconstruction

Wheatland, WY

Modernizing Wheatland's Aviation Infrastructure, On Budget and On Mission

Ardurra delivered a full runway reconstruction at Phifer Airfield, securing over 84 acres through coordination with adjacent landowners and designing infrastructure improvements that brought the facility into full compliance with FAA standards. The project shifted the runway alignment 90 feet longitudinally, corrected multiple non-compliant standards, and integrated new runway edge lights, NAVAIDs, and a wildlife fence around the acquired property.

Key Highlights:

  • Secured supplemental discretionary FAA funding that saved the Town $200,000 in local match requirements
  • Coordinated irrigation utility relocations with landowners to minimize property impacts and avoid conflicts with the irrigation season
  • Delivered runway reconstruction that corrected standards deficiencies, relocated existing utilities, and repositioned roads to support long-term airport operations

This project enabled Wheatland to modernize its aviation infrastructure while reducing financial burden on the community and maintaining positive relationships with surrounding landowners throughout construction.
