DART Silver Line Regional Rail

Dallas, TX

Connecting Communities Across a Growing North Texas Corridor

The DART Silver Line is one of the most significant transit investments in North Texas, delivering a long-standing regional goal to establish a reliable east–west rail connection across the Metroplex. The 26-mile regional rail line links DFW International Airport to Plano, serving the cities of Grapevine, Coppell, Carrollton, Addison, Dallas, Richardson, and Plano along the corridor.

First envisioned in the 1980s, the Silver Line advances a decades-old regional vision for improved mobility, access, and economic opportunity. Following years of planning, design, engineering, and coordination, construction began in 2019 and delivered a modern, multimodal rail corridor designed for long-term growth.

A Modern, Connected Transit Corridor

The project features:

  • 10 new stations with connections to DART Light Rail, TEXRail, and regional hike-and-bike trail systems
  • New Stadler FLIRT diesel-electric trains designed for comfort, accessibility, and efficiency, featuring level boarding, bike storage, luggage racks, and onboard charging
  • Seamless integration with local mobility networks and future regional transportation plans

The Silver Line is projected to serve more than 11,000 weekday riders by 2040, supporting over 200,000 regional jobs and strengthening mobility options throughout North Texas.
