Baker City Municipal Airport North and South GA Aprons

Baker City, OR

Ardurra delivered comprehensive pavement reconstruction and infrastructure upgrades at Baker City Municipal Airport, successfully replacing failed pavements on both North and South General Aviation aprons while maintaining continuous airport operations. Working closely with Public Works, the Airport Board, and the Oregon Department of Aviation, the team completed multiple critical safety projects on time and under budget while minimizing local funding requirements.

The multi-phase approach strategically maintained business continuity for airport tenants and avoided revenue losses during construction. The North GA Apron reconstruction proceeded in two phases, preserving the fuel island and FBO access throughout the project. Concurrent infrastructure improvements added a concrete fueling pad and expanded Jet A capacity by 6,000 gallons, enhancing operational capabilities without disrupting existing fuel sales.

The South GA Apron reconstruction employed a phased approach to minimize hangar access restrictions, ensuring minimal impact on based aircraft operations. Strategic enhancements included concrete helipads designed specifically for firefighting helicopter operations, thereby expanding the airport's emergency response capabilities.

Both aprons had reached the end of their useful life and required complete reconstruction to maintain safety standards in critical aircraft movement areas. The successful project delivery demonstrates effective coordination between multiple stakeholders, achieving the dual objectives of infrastructure renewal and operational enhancement. This approach transformed deteriorated pavement systems into modern, functional aprons that support both general aviation activities and critical emergency services, positioning Baker City Municipal Airport for continued safe operations and future growth.
