Cedar City Regional Airport Master Plan
Cedar City, UT
Cedar City Regional Airport is a Part 139 airport with a flight school and serves as an important aerial firefighting base. In cooperation with the City and Airport Board, a handful of specific topics were identified at the beginning of the project that provided important information for making community decisions.
When we were selected, the airport had a large, expensive runway extension project on their CIP that would significantly disrupt traffic. This runway extension would relocate existing infrastructure, change NAVAIDs, and shift aviation impacts to new neighborhoods. Our customized Scope of Work provided public education beyond a standard Master Plan as well as an increased focus on identifying users and aircraft that require the runway extension. After working with the Sponsor to explore all unmet demand, it was determined that a runway extension was not the highest priority for the Airport at that time. Ultimately, this extra effort provided the community with a Master Plan that truly addressed their unique needs while still meeting the requirements of the FAA. We are proud that Cedar City recently reselected our firm to complete their next Airport Master Plan Update. This attests to the quality we provide and the relationships we build with our clients.
