Lake Pleasant Parkway Design-Build
City of Peoria, Arizona
Ardurra provided roadway, drainage, and utility engineering design, survey, right-of-way, and post design services to widen this two-lane roadway segment of Lake Pleasant into a four-lane parkway that included bicycle and pedestrian improvements. This project was constructed utilizing the Design-Build process with Ames Construction. Project-wide improvements included sidewalks, multi-use path, storm drain, sidewalk connectivity, traffic signals, street and pathway lighting, landscape, right-of-way acquisition, and utility relocations. Our team implemented sustainable features such as re-use of existing on-site material for earthwork, optimization of roadway profile, plant salvage and re-use of 4000+ native plants, and water harvesting swales within the medians to preserve the corridor’s natural resources. We developed a cost-saving alternative that utilized a box culvert underpass for the equestrian crossing that originally warranted a bridge structure. As a result of our efficiency in design and value engineering, our team saved $2M in project costs.
