Interactive GIS web tools for Colville River floodplain public engagement
Ardurra's geospatial team provided digital engagement support for the Stevens County Floodplains by Design Colville River Project, creating public outreach tools for the secondary floodway terrace development on agricultural lands south of Chewelah. The project encompasses approximately 4,000 feet of the Colville River, addressing dredge spoil removal and site stabilization within the river's historic floodplain, which lies four feet or less above the current channel.
To support permitting processes, Ardurra developed a public website featuring background information and an interactive web map with LiDAR-derived relative elevation models of the project area. The digital platform enables stakeholder engagement through comment submission capabilities linked to specific map locations, facilitating targeted feedback on the Pilot Project and suggestions for future floodplain improvements throughout the valley.
