California Tank and Pump Station
Redwood City, CA
Ardurra provided design and construction phase services for a new 0.75 million gallons (MG) circular prestressed concrete potable water tank and a new 1,600 gallons per minute (GPM) pump station and related improvements including yard piping, transmission main pipeline, access road, drainage detention basin, electrical/SCADA/security improvements, and landscaping and fencing improvements.
Key Project Components & Issues
Ardurra conducted engineering analyses and design related to the following:
- Tank siting and tank type evaluation (including life-cycle cost analysis for alternative tank materials and configurations) for 0.75 MG of new storage
- 1,100 linear feet (LF) transmission main pipeline alignment and pipe materials evaluation
- 640 LF of 12-inch diameter yard piping (cement motor lined and coated steel)
- Pump station with three (3) 533 GPM vertical turbine pumps and variable frequency drives to meet a wide range of pumping conditions (operational, fire, and emergency interconnection) into three (3) different pressure zones
- Storm runoff detention basin to attenuate post-project runoff to existing conditions
