City of Laredo Water Quality Program

City of Laredo, TX

Ardurra is performing detailed evaluations and analyses of the water treatment processes and distribution system operations to identify potential items that could be improved or optimized to prevent/reduce the risk of nitrification and determine if current practices are aligned with best management practices. This includes thorough assessment of the treatment plant operations at the Jefferson Street and El Pico plants, including a water quality analysis of raw water sources and finished water, unit treatment process performance, chemical addition effectiveness, water quality monitoring and analysis, instrumentation and controls, and all other pertinent operations. The performance of all unit processes at the plants (coagulation/ flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, disinfection, and chemical feed, etc.) is being evaluated and includes a detailed sampling program at key locations throughout the plants. Ardurra is also performing a detailed assessment of the distribution system, including water quality data collected throughout the City, monitoring and sampling plans, flushing plans, Nitrification Action Plan, and the operation of all water storage and pumping facilities. Ardurra will provide recommendations to optimize the overall treatment processes, mitigate any potential water quality issues that may arise in the distribution system and provide conceptual design for strategies and/or modifications to the current operations.
