Uptown Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) South Extension Feasibility Study

Houston, Texas

Ardurra provided planning services with regard to the Uptown BRT Line Extension Feasibility Study in Houston, Texas. Ardurra studied the feasibility of extending the BRT line from the proposed Uptown Transit Center (UTC) to Bellaire/Bissonnet corridors via Chimney Rock.

The purpose of the study is to identify potential station stops, options for two dedicated bus lanes and/or shared lanes, and layovers at each end, at least as long as two articulated buses, beginning at the UTC and traveling southward to Bissonnet or further.

The study will result in up to two alternatives along Chimney Rock and IH-610 Frontage Roads for existing condition and planning level cost estimation.

Ardurra collected all available data to evaluate alternative alignments for the BRT extension and will develop conceptual typical sections for the alternative alignments to extend the BRT line from UTC to Bellaire Boulevard.
